It’s been a year!
It’s actually insane to think that it’s only been a year (and a few months) since I decided to follow my gut and pursue a creative career full-time while giving life on the road a shot. Last February, I was working part-time at a grocery store. YES! a grocccerrrry store. I had been creating online for a couple of years part-time and just a year before fully taking the leap, I picked up a camera again.
I was working a ton of different gigs, exploring so many different passions, and trying everythinnnnnnng. I mean EVERYTHING! I practiced storytelling, gained experience in content, worked endless side gigs and taught myself how to run a business. It didn’t happen overnight, at the time it felt almost painfully slow HA and I absolutely did not realize I was creating the life I had always dreamed of..
Last March, I was moving out of a house & I got an inkling to move into a truck. My vehicle at the time was toast, I had dreamt of doing this in so many different variations for years so I browsed and eventually came across… her!! I immediately felt in my heart it was my next move, I do not know how to tell you I felt it to my core and I was still so TERRIFIED to put all my eggs in one basket. I sold & packed away all of my belongings that month and it has been a whirlwind ever since
Climbing shaped a huge part of this. I share that story often here, I don’t as often talk about how much it genuinnnnely saved me. I was REALLY struggling, I was exhausted, living pay check to pay check, felt very far from myself.
I randomly started bouldering at an indoor gym because I wanted community and a fun way to stay active. A couple of years later, I found sport climbing and that was pretty much it. I fell in love with the movement, the outdoors, the community and the way climbing made me feel connected.I reoriented, built trust and self belief in myself. Climbing brought me back to nature, into my body, it slowed me down, gave me a healthy outlet and space to process what happened to me early in life
in so many ways, it brought me home
I knew I wanted to live on the road because I wanted to wake up in the outdoors. I wanted to be able to spend more time in the places where I loved to travel to climb, to reorient my life around a slow paced, healthy lifestyle and build around the things I loved.
I did all of this AND I ended up building a whole life around my passions!
I built a creative career that gives me so much purpose and a life on the road full of adventure and travel. Along the way, I’ve reframed how I see myself and the world. I've developed a new trust in the billionss and billions and billions of beautiful ways there are to live a meaningful life
I never knew how many doors sharing my story would open. So thank you thank you thank you thank so dang much for listening and for making this life feel a little less lonely by being here to share this journey
This year has been so abundant and I want to take a second to share where I’m at to update, introduce myself to the new people who have found my channel and leave something for future Delaney to look back on
I am so, so proud to be a Trail Creator with onX offroad and Toyota, where I get to share more about my truck, why I love onX app, my growth in the off-road space, the features of my Tundra, new trails, longer-form content and this whole side of life on the road. girl on rock has some huge plans for 2027. In short, Girl on Rock is a channel and community I created at the beginning of the year to bring women together outdoors. We just launched a new website and some additions to our merch. Link in my bio!
I signed on for another year with Movement Gyms for another year of fun gym content!
I’m a 2026 creator with Tune Outdoor and have loved every single second of life on the road in my TUNE M1L.
On that note, I just want to say the biggest, most sincere THANK YOU to all of the companies that have helped me build my dream rig this year, and to every single brand that has worked with and supported me since I committed to this dream full-time.
Your belief in me and my work has shaped me in more ways than you know. Thank you for helping make this dream my reality!
All this to say I hope you take the leap, you absolutely deserve to live the life you dream of.
